Herman J. Miller Herman J. Miller was born December 5, 1916 in Buffalo, New York. He joined the US Army Air Corps October 28, 1942 and served in the 2nd Armored Division for the balance of WWII. He referred to himself as an aircraft mechanic, working on P-38 fighters, but also served as a draftsman working on maps. He was discharged February 3, 1946. He was awarded the American Service Medal, European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He later attended art school on the GI bill where he met Anna E. Phile of Delanco, whom he later married. They moved to Third Street in Delanco in 1959. Herman was a gifted self-employed woodworker and sign-painter with a shop on East Union St in Burlington. He went on to work as a sign painter for Wanamaker’s Department Store in Philadelphia for 15 years. They were active in Dobbins Memorial Church and Delanco Seniors. Herman was active in American Legion Post 146 in Riverside, also a member of the Burnt Cork Association and the Highlanders Drum and Bugle Corps of Burlington. Herman died November 1, 2002 and is buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burlington. USAAC, TEC 5 2nd Armor Div WWII, Germany 1916 – 2002
